***Summer work will be posted in your 2020-2021 Teacher Google classroom beginning June 14th.
The K-5 standards build on the best state standards to provide detailed guidance to teachers on how to navigate their way through knotty topics such as fractions, negative numbers, and geometry, and do so by maintaining a continuous progression from grade to grade.
Areas of focus for 5th Grade include: Number System ( addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)Place Value System (whole numbers & decimals), Numerical Expressions, Fractions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), Graphing Data Points on the Coordinate Plane, Volume of two dimensional figures.
The middle school standards are robust and provide a coherent and rich preparation for high school mathematics.
Areas of focus for 6th Grade include: Fractions, Percents, Area/Volume/Surface Area, Simple Algebraic Equations, Introduction of Integers and Absolute Values, and Analyzing Data, Graphs, and Statistics.
Areas of focus for 7th Grade include: Algebraic Expressions and Equations, Using Integers, Inequalities, Proportional Relationships, Percents in Everyday Life (tax, interest, tip, etc), Unit Rates, Scale Drawings, and Probability and Predictions.
Areas of focus for 8th Grade include: Solving 2 step equations, Roots, Rational Numbers, Solving and Graphing Algebraic Equations, Analyzing Functions and Graphs, Slopes and Linear Functions, Pythagorean Theorem and Right-Triangle Relationships, and Translations/Rotations/Reflections.
