BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT (September)
An opportunity for parents to meet the teachers for a projection of the goals for the year as well as presentations by the principal, Home & School Association and school committees.

FIRST FRIDAY LITURGY (Monthly)
Students, staff and families are welcomed to gather for First Friday liturgies at 9:00 AM in the church.

SPECIAL MASS FOR EACH GRADE (Designated Months during the school year)
One Sunday Mass at 10AM each month is celebrated for a specific school grade level. All parish families of students in that grade are welcome and encouraged to attend and participate. The students and families will sit together in a reserved front section of the church. Students can participate as greeters, altar servers and gift bearers. A special blessing for the grade will be given and there will be refreshments in the Annex following Mass. The schedule for each grade is listed in the Parish Bulletin.

YOUNG AUTHORS DAY (Spring)
The skill and art of writing is celebrated at St. Dorothy School when published authors come to our school and work with our students in selected classroom. Professionals from a variety of fields in the Arts visit the students and share their craft with them. Some professionals are authors, newspaper editors, and script writers.

CONFIRMATION (Fall)
The Sacrament of Confirmation is administered in the fall each year, as the date is assigned by the Archdiocese, to children at the seventh grade level. Preparation of Confirmation begins at the sixth grade level.

OKTOBERFEST FAIR (October)
This Development Committee sponsored event allows our community to come together to have fun, volunteer and spend time with fellow parishioners while raising money for our parish school. Check the Oktoberfest Fair page for the schedule and information on volunteering closer to the event.
TRUNK OR TREAT (October) postponed October of 2022 due to Oktoberfest.
Decorate your car and join in the festivities while the children safely trick or treat by going "trunk to trunk" to collect goodies with the Parish Community in the school/parish parking lot.

8TH GRADE MASS OF THANKSGIVING (Fall)
8th Grade Students and their families attend Mass on a designated evening the week before Thanksgiving.

ANNUAL TURKEY BOWL (November)
The St. Dorothy CYO Football Team's "Turkey Bowl" is a longstanding tradition for the entire community. Played every year on Thanksgiving morning alternating between St. Dorothy's home field (Steele Rd) and St. Bernadette's home field (Dermond Rd). A bonfire and pep rally sponsored by the Athletic Association is held the night before, currently at Aronomink School field.
CHRISTMAS CONCERT (December)
All grades participate in an evening Christmas concert in the church with 6th grade students performing in a nativity tableau.

SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE (January)
Each year to kick off the start of our Catholic Schools Week activities St. Dorothy School hosts an open house to welcome prospective students and their families, as well as, all current student families and members of our parish. All are welcome! Check the Open House page for detailed information.

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK (January)
National Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. It typically starts the last Sunday in January and runs all week. Check the Catholics Schools Week Page for detailed information on the student activities and programs scheduled throughout the week.

TRIVIA NIGHT (Winter)
This Athletic Association Fundraiser is held in the gym each year. Teams accumulate points based on each round of questions answered successfully. The lowest scoring team in each round must wear the dreaded dunce caps, but all in good fun. A maximum table of 12 can be reserved and paid for advance - it's always a sell out!

VARIETY SHOW (January/February)
Students in grades 1 - 8 are welcome to showcase their talent or perform skits of all sorts on stage in the gym for pure entertainment. The show ends with a traditional 8th grade class finale of our graduates. Information regarding sign ups and practice schedule is generally released in December and the show is held on the Friday night at the end of Catholic Schools week. TBS

HOOPS FOR HOPE (February)
Raises awareness and helps those directly affected by cancer in our school and community. The event begins on a Friday in February and runs through Sunday. The event kicks off with a teacher's game on Friday at 4PM. Check the Weekly Communication page closer to date for the schedule, registration, heart donation forms, and contact information. A sign up genius will also be posted with Volunteer opportunities.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR (January)
The St. Dorothy Scholastic Book Fair is held in the Library beginning on the first Sunday of Catholic Schools Week after the 9:30 and 11:00 AM Masses and continues through the school week. A sign up genius will also be posted with volunteer opportunities closer to the date.

DESIGNER BAG BINGO (Spring)
This Home & School Association hosted event is held in the gym each year. Your entrance fee starts you off with 12 rounds of bingo cards ~ 1 for each game. You may sign up to reserve a table for 8-12 people with an opportunity to win a designer bag each round!

GRANDPARENTS/SPECIAL PERSONS DAY GRADES K-4 (Spring)
Each student is invited to share some morning time at St. Dorothy School with a grandparent or special person in their life. The day begins with a prayer service in the gymnasium followed by refreshments. The students will perform on stage before guests are invited to the classrooms for a short visit.

FIRST EUCHARIST (Spring)
The Sacrament is received by children at the second grade level the first Saturday in May. There is the option to make First Communion either at weekend Parish Liturgies during the Easter Season or at a Communion class Mass celebrated on a designated Sunday.

SCHOOL THEATER PRODUCTION (Spring)

MAY PROCESSION (May)
A very special celebration with song, prayer and procession honoring the Blessed Mother takes place during May. Students report to the classroom by 6:40pm on the day of the event in "summer" school uniform. Students in grades 2, 6 and 8 wear sacramental attire/confirmation robe/graduation gown). Students lead the procession out of school along the Burmont Road sidewalk and enter Church via the Township Line doors. After the prayer service, grades K-4 will return to the classroom for dismissal.

GOLF OUTING (Spring)
The St. Dorothy Athletic Association Annual Golf Outing is always a sellout. Not golfing? Bring your friends and show your support after the event when we all meet at JD McGillicuddy's Kirklyn for more prizes and fun. Further information will be released closer to the event.

KINDERGARTEN CLOSING CEREMONY (End of School Year)
Our youngest members of St. Dorothy School celebrate this rite-of-passage in a song filled ceremony in Church at the end of their Kindergarten year. The ceremony is followed by a social in the Annex as they look forward to their next chapter of school.
