St. Dorothy School is committed to ensuring that each student has the opportunity to reach their fullest potential. To support this goal, we work to identify students who may benefit from more challenging coursework or the opportunity to explore subjects in greater depth.
The enrichment process is designed to be broad and inclusive. We consider students who demonstrate strong academic abilities and show a natural curiosity and an eagerness to learn. By recognizing both talent and motivation, we aim to provide meaningful opportunities for a wide range of learners.
Once identified, students will have the opportunity to engage in more challenging coursework and/or projects on a weekly basis. These experiences are intended to inspire students, challenge their thinking, and foster continued academic growth.Students are considered for the program using a comprehensive approach that allows us to view the whole child and identify areas where enrichment may be most beneficial. Student selection is based on multiple measures, including:
classroom observations
curriculum-based assessments
performance rubrics
teacher recommendations (academic skills, creativity, work habits, and social skills)
Terra Nova scores (3rd and 4th grades)
