What's Happening in 1A?
Math: We are working in chapter 9. In this chapter we are learning about subtraction. Students will learn to subtract using a ten frame. They will also practice writing fact families and related subtraction facts to check their work.
Fundations: We are working on blends and r-controlled sounds. Students will work to read in isolation, in sentences and passages. Students will practice writing words and sentences.
ELA:
Phonics: We are working on long e. Students will learn to read words with the patterns in isolation, phrases and sentences. They will apply their knowledge to reading words with the pattern in passages and stories.
High-Frequency Words: Our high frequency words this week are found, hard, near, woman, would, write. We will read these words in isolation, in sentences and in stories. Students will practice sentence writing with these words.
Reading: This week we will read and learn to answer the essential question: "How do people work with animals?" We will read a variety of stories to answer this question.
Writing and Grammar: We are working on spring writing. We will also focus on writing our constructed response to answer a question that goes along with our weekly story. In grammar we are going to learn about adverbs.
Religion: In Religion we are learning how we work together as a parish to help one another.
